There were a whole bunch of announcements this week, coming from both established artists like Peter Gabriel and Coheed and Cambria, and up-and-coming acts like Sleep Decade and The Invincible Summer. Take a look at them all below!

COHEED AND CAMBRIA

The Afterman is the title of Coheed And Cambria’s upcoming sixth studio album. Excitingly, it’s a concept album to be released in two separate full-length volumes. The first volume, The Afterman: Ascension, will be released on October 12, 2012, via V2/Cooperative Music. The second volume, The Afterman: Descension is slated for release in February 2013.

THE OYSTER MURDERS

The Oyster Murders are set to release their debut album Winter of the Electric Sun this coming August. Featuring psychedelic-pop hooks and orchestral textures, it’ll be out on August 30, 2012, with a short run of tour dates through Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne, to follow.

SLEEP DECADE

Sleep Decade Bicycle

Sleep Decade are set to release their debut album, Into Spinning Lights late October, 2012. Their dreamy, delicate pop has been a hit with many, so to tide fans and newcomers over until then, they’ve released “Bicycle”, the first single from the album. Check it out below. You’ll also find them launching their single at Bar Open in Fitzroy on September 16.

ECHODROIDES

Echodroides are getting ready to release their new EP Umbra in late August, 2012. It’s out via Hot Dog Records, and will be available on Beatport, Juno, and iTunes.

STEVE BUG

Renowned on the electronic music circuit, Steve Bug is set to release his fifth album on October 1, 2012, through his own Poker Flat Recordings. Noir is his first album since 2009’s Collaboratory. Check out the recently released single “Tell Me Why” below.

MOJO JUJU

Mojo Juju

After splitting with The Snake Oil Merchants in early 2011, Mojo Juju is back with a new band, ready to release her self-titled debut album. Mojo Juju is out on September 14, 2012, through The Hoodoo Emporium.

SUCH GOLD

Such Gold

New York melodic punk four-piece Such Gold have just announced the release of their debut album Misadventures. They’ll be playing Soundwave 2013 as well, so keep an eye out for them! Misadventures will be out on September 14, 2012, through Razor & Tie via Shock.

CAVIARE DAYS

Caviare Days are planning a North American release of their self-titled debut album for October 9, 2012. Luckily this means it shouldn’t be long before it reaches our shores too. The Swedish sisters Lina and Maja Westin wrote the album in Sweden, while it was mastered by Frank Arkwright in the famous Abbey Road studios in London. The US version of their album contains bonus track “The Lucky Ones”.

BERTIE BLACKMAN

Bertie Blackman

Pop songstress Bertie Blackman has postponed the release of her fourth album due to tonsilitis pushing preview shows back. Pope Innocent X will now be out on October 12, 2012. It will follow up her ARIA award winning 2009 album Secrets and Lies.

STEVE SEDERGREEN

Melbourne jazz pianist Steve Sedergreen will be releasing his album Points in Time on September 14, 2012 via Newmarket. The 12-song collection features original material written from various points in his career, all reworked. He’ll also be launching it on September 15 at the Central Club Hotel in Richmond.

THE DATSUNS

The Datsun Death Rattle Boogie

New Zealand rockers The Datsuns are set to release their fifth studio album Death Rattle Boogie on October 5, 2012, via Hellsquad/MGM Distribution - exactly a decade after the release of their acclaimed self-titled debut. As a way of celebrating, they’ve released a new music video for “Gods Are Bored”, which you can watch below. Check out the video’s details for a free download.

LEURE

Leure is a solo beats project from Ash Hendriks (Wolves At The Door). She’s already played over 20 shows, supported Chet Faker, and written an entire album - pretty impressive right! Her debut album Holland Sky is out now digitally through Inertia Access. Stream it below, or buy it through iTunes.

ARIEL PINK’S HAUNTED GRAFFITI

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti

Mature Themes, the new album from Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, is out now via 4AD/Remote Control Records. It is the follow up to 2010’s Before Today, and represents a much more collaborative process within the band.


PRINNIE + MAHALIA

Fan favourites from The Voice, Prinnie Stevens and Mahalia Barnes have been working together to produce an album of duets. Titled Come Together, it will be released on October 5, 2012, through Universal Music Australia.

FANNY LUMSDEN & THE THRILLSEEKERS

Fanny Lumsden & The Thrillseekers have just announced their latest release, Autumn Lawn EP, which will be available from August 28, 2012. It was produced by Ian Pritchett (Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls), and will be launched with a show in Sydney at The Hellen Rose Schauersberger LabOratorium of Surry Hills, August 30. Tickets are on sale now via Moshtix.

SIMO SOO

Left-of-centre punk rapper Simo Soo is calling on fans and the community to help fund his next release. He’s shared the stage with musicians such as Das Racist, Peaches, Captain Ahab, and a bunch of others all across the US and Europe. YOUNG RIVAL

Young Rival

Young Rival have just announced their new full-length album Stay Young. Drummer Noah Fralick said that with this record they “focused more on the melodic range” of their sound, while still keeping the “grit and feel” of previous records. Stay Young will be released on October 23, 2012, via Sonic Unyon Records.

THE INVINCIBLE SUMMER

The Invincible Summer is a collective formed by Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist Matt James. After returning home from the northern hemisphere, he brought together some of Sydney’s best to record “Runaway” and “To The Sky”. Their debut single “Runaway” is available on iTunes now. Their self-titled debut album will be out in the first half of 2013.

PETER GABRIEL

Peter Gabriel’s 1986 album So has been digitally remastered for a very special 25th Anniversary Edition to be released internationally on October 22, 2012, through Real World Records/EMI in a whole bunch of different physical and digital packs. There will be an expanded 3CD edition, as well as a 4CD/2DVD/LP/12” Deluxe Limited Edition box set.

THE JIM JONES REVUE

The Jim Jones Revue

The third studio album from The Jim Jones Revue, The Savage Heart, will be released on October 12, 2012, through Liberator Music/Play It Again Sam/Punk Rock Blues Records. It will feature new member Henri Herbert on keyboards, and was produced by Jim Sclavunos (of Grinderman/Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds).

FUTURE CLASSIC DJS

Sydney-based dance music collective Future Classic is now gearing up to release its first official DJs compilation on September 10, 2012. Featuring exclusives from artists like Flume, Nitetime, Gung Ho, and Slow Hands, the compilation coincides with the launch of Beatport’s new Mixes service, where you can get the complete DJ mix and the unmixed exclusive tracks as standalone releases. Beatport has the pre-release exclusive if you can’t wait for this one. There’s also a 12-inch vinyl sampler.

TWELVE FOOT NINJA

Twelve Foot Ninja

Twelve Foot Ninja’s debut album, Silent Machine, will be released on November 2, 2012, through Volkanik. In the lead up to it though, they’ll be presenting ‘Project 12’. Over 12 weeks, the band will digitally release 12 songs and 12 comics. If you pre-order their album, you’ll receive them immediately as they come out, but for a taster, they’re giving their first comic and song away for free. ELECTROSPECTIVE

The recording catalogues of EMI, Virgin, and Mute contain many key moments in the rise and growth of electronic music. EMI has put together Electrospective, a two disc, 39 track compilation featuring artists like Gorillaz, Brian Eno, Massive Attack, and deadmau5. It’s out now.

MNDR

MNDR

New York artist MNDR (Amanda Warner) is set to release her anticipated debut album Feed Me Diamonds on September 28, 2012, on Pod through Inertia. She has performed on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Carson Daly, Jools Holland, and appeared on Mark Ronson’s hit “Bang Bang Bang”, which sold more than 3.5 million copies. Yeah, it might be a good idea to keep an ear open for this one.
